200 METER REPEATS

I met up with Brett, Bryant, and Sariah to do some 200 meter repeats at the 21st Street Pond.  They were kind enough to humor me and do a birthday workout with me of 32 200-meter repeats for me turning 32 today.  We wanted to keep them easy though since we have the marathon next week so we aimed for 35 seconds and did a 200-meter jog for rest at 6:50 pace.

The problem is I lost track very early on with the count.  I forgot my watch had autolapped twice already after the warmup during some strides (and after I had switched it to kilometers and a 0.2 kilometer autolap) before we started.  So later in the workout I thought I could just subtract two (for the two mile warmup) and then divide by two to get our count.  But really I needed to subtract four and then divide by two because of those strides.  So long story short we only did 31 thinking we'd done 32.  But we did do two strides (about 100 meters each) before we started, so we'll count it.

We averaged 34.97 seconds for the 31 reps, so right where we wanted it.  I also planned to do the 32nd one in 32 seconds, but turns out it was the actually on the 31st and I did it in 31 seconds.  So the whole 32 thing didn't really pan out...haha.  But that's all right.  A good workout with good company this morning.

Happy birthday Riley. Nice birthday workout. But I think you should get back out there tonight and do the exta rep; because if you don't, I doubt you'll be able to sleep tonight:)

Happy Birthday! Wow Sariah is a trooper. She invited me to run with her and little did I know it was with you guys. Theres no way I can keep up with all that. She will be kicking butt running with you guys.

Thanks guys.

Angie: Sariah did the same workout as us, but not the same pace (otherwise that would've been a monster workout for her).

You should come run with her when she does workouts at the same time as us! She figures if she meets us and does the same workout only at her pace, it'll help her get more quality workouts in.

Ya I think I will come on my days off for sure. I will be wayyyyyyy behind but it will be good to have her to push me. 5:45 is soooo early though haha.

There is no way I could have kept track of 32 200s - that's what = 8 miles around the track? Wow, I don't think I've ever done more than 5. Impressive.

Happy Birthday too!

Yeah it was/would have been 8 miles total with the jogging rest. But we did it on a paved path around a pond, which is a one-mile-ish loop. So, only 8 laps.

happy birthday. Good workout. If I didn't keep track of my laps with my watch I could never keep track.
