AM: 8.74 miles easy.  I met Ben and Jon in North Ogden for a nice, easy morning run.  It was beautiful out there just after the rainfall.  Great to see those two back out running and training again after being on the injury reserve for a few months now.

Update on my knee.  I stopped mentioned my knee as I'm sure people were sick of hearing about it daily.  But, it feels great now.  I think the inflammation is gone, but I am still icing it and treating it as though it's not gone just for safety precautions.

Update on training and Ogden Marathon.  I decided I'm going to do a very minimal taper (at least compared to what I've done in the past) that will start this Saturday.  Two reasons for this: I feel like I've over-tapered in the past and also I want to somewhat "train through" Ogden.  I want to still do well there, but with my lack of volume in April my hopes aren't as high and I don't want Ogden to slow down my training too much for Duluth in June.  But don't get me wrong I will still race it hard and try my best, I just am not going to back off as much leading into the race.

Lunchtime: 5 miles easy on the base perimeter road.

Glad to hear the knee is doing better!

I think you should go out hard in the marathon :]

Good news, Riley. I think emphasis on the taper can be somewhat extreme, such is why I am going between what I have done in the past (about weeks) and the Sasha method, which is about 2-3 days :)

You might just have your best race... Glad your knee is on the mend

Bet you're too chicken to go out fast.

Dave made me do it. Dave told me to say it. Honest. I'm sorry, I didn't mean it. Dave said, he'd set Brandon on me if I didn't do it.

Are you referring to Jon Kotter?

From RileyCook on Thu, May 09, 2013 at 09:07:17 from 132.3.45.81

Rob: No, Jon Heslop. He was training with us up until New Year's when he got injured. He was in about 2:35 marathon shape when he got hurt, good runner.

Bam: I absolutely am too chicken, and not scared to admit it!

You Ogdenites/Ogdenians with your Heslops and Hales. You need to get a Farr or a McFarland in the mix.

I just went to a Hales wedding reception in Layton on Tuesday and it was a sugar-filled love fest.
