I met Ken at Flying J again on 21st Street.  I never thought 23 degrees could feel like paradise, but it was great this morning to have a warmer temp!  Two mile warmup followed by eight miles in 5:29 average (5:29 also happened to be the median and mode today too for you stat geeks) and a small cooldown after.

PM: 5 miles semi-easy, probably should've gone a bit easier.  Oh well.

You're dropping these down nicely. Did you decide about an early spring marathon? Seems like you aren't far away from being very, very ready to pop a good one.

Jake, I'm still trying to decide between PHX and Woodlands. But PHX is much cheaper to travel to than Houston, so I am kind of leaning toward PHX. Then again if I run well, Woodlands would likely be a better payday in the end. Who knows...I'm a natural born procrastinator, I'll decide eventually.

Such a conundrum. I know how it is, though... I'm going back and forth on FALL marathons. I finally had to tell myself to just STOP and decide in June or July :-)

Riley, Phx sent out an email and are down to less then 50 spots left. I emailed them and got a comped entry for the half. You are much faster than me so I bet you could get one for the full. I had a group of people I'm training for Ohx out on the course Saturday and with the exception of a decent hill from 5-6.5 the course if fantastic. Downhill without quad busting. Great workout today an just wanted to give you a heads up on Phx.

Nice workout Riley!

Derek, thanks for the info on PHX. I am certainly considering running it. I should try to decide by the end of the week. We'll see...

Hey one perk to Phoenix is you can fly rt out from Ogden airport now and pretty sure it's cheaper.

From RileyCook on Wed, Jan 09, 2013 at 09:54:36 from 132.3.57.68

Angie, I didn't know that. Where can I find info online about flights out of Ogden?

From AngieB on Wed, Jan 09, 2013 at 10:04:25 from 199.190.170.28

I think its called allegiant air. I think they fly to mesa arizona for like $142 round trip or something like that. I am not sure how far phoenix is from mesa.

From Jake K on Wed, Jan 09, 2013 at 10:04:47 from 155.100.226.191

Its crazy cheap on Allegiant. The flight I'm taking down for the RnR 1/2 next weekend cost like $105 roundtrip. I'll drive to Ogden for that!

From Jake K on Wed, Jan 09, 2013 at 10:05:59 from 155.100.226.191

Mesa is where the marathon actually is. PHX is huge and spread out... the main airport is actually centrally located and very convenient to get in and out of. But the Mesa airport is great if you are headed to Mesa / Gilbert / Chandler area... anywhere in the east valley.

From AngieB on Wed, Jan 09, 2013 at 10:06:27 from 199.190.170.28

I just looked up its 19 miles to Phoenix from Mesa.

From AngieB on Wed, Jan 09, 2013 at 10:10:06 from 199.190.170.28

This probably sealed the deal for ya hu Riley. Phoenix it is???

From RileyCook on Wed, Jan 09, 2013 at 10:11:31 from 132.3.57.68

Haha, yeah it certainly makes PHX more appealing. Thanks for the info guys. That is crazy cheap airfare.

From RileyCook on Wed, Jan 09, 2013 at 10:12:57 from 132.3.57.68

Jake had I known airfare was only $105, I would've joined ya for RnR! That's cheaper than the gas I'll use to get to St. George for the half next week.
