I did a workout on the Arc Trainer, simulating mile reps. I did 6 by 5-minutes hard with 2:30 easy in between. I hate cross training. Based on the pool of sweat under me, I must've lost 5-6 pounds.

Is that knee still hurting from the 30 mile mountain day? Also, do you like the arc trainer better than a common elipticle?

Not sure what is wrong with me but I like cross training at the gym. Sounds like you got in a good workout at least. I hope the knee is getting better.

I do prefer the Arc Trainer. Due to the motion it stresses your knees less. There's been days I couldn't run a step without knee pain, but I could arc train all day with nothing. The makers also claim it burns more calories than the elliptical but who knows whether that's true.

As for the knee, it was hurting last week before the trail run, calmed down a bit, and then flared up during the run. I'd say now it's back to pre-trail run pain levels. So progress, but not out of the woods. I think I can do uphill running without setting it back, but not flat or downhill yet.

Fritz, I don't know how you love cross training! But hey to each their own.
